THE Energy Regulation Board (ERB) has announced a reduction in fuel prices, citing falling international oil prices and the appreciation of the Kwacha against the US dollar.
ERB board chairperson James Banda said in a statement that the pump price of petrol has been reduced by K2.04, representing a 6.82 percent drop, from K29.92 per litre to K27.88 per litre.
Diesel has been cut by K0.61, or 2.43 percent, from K25.11 per litre to K24.50 per litre. Kerosene has decreased by K1.64, or 6.87 percent, from K23.88 per litre to K22.24 per litre, while Jet A-1 has been reduced by K1.73, or 6.78 percent, from K25.53 per litre to K23.80 per litre.
Mr Banda explained that since the last fuel price review on December 31, 2025, international oil prices have declined. Petrol fell by 7.89 percent, from US$73.25 per barrel to US$67.47, while diesel dropped by 3.80 percent, from US$79.93 to US$76.89.
