PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema says the August 13 general elections must be another building block towards a stable Zambia, and has encouraged citizens to always choose peace over conflict.
Mr Hichilema restated his administration’s commitment to delivering a free, fair and credible general election in August this year.
The head of State was speaking when he attended Easter Sunday Mass at the Anglican Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Lusaka yesterday.
“You have seen what conflict does to those within the spaces, but that conflict extends damage to all of us,” he said.
“I was listening to a prayer here for conflict areas to receive Christ’s hand so we can all have an opportunity to focus on those things that matter the most to our families, communities, nations, more importantly, to the risen Christ.”
President Hichilema urged Zambians to always choose peace over conflict, unity over division, and inclusion over exclusions.
Mr Hichilema said to ensure prosperity, Zambians should strive to build a united country.
“May the risen Christ renew the love for each other and for our country, our region, continent and the world. As we all know, we are a family. We are a global village,” he said.
